How
much time do you spend on making a card?
Depending on the card’s detailing, a card can take me from 30 minutes
to more than 10 hours. Caricatures probably take me the longest to complete.
But pop-ups and moving parts can take a while depending on detailing.
Do
you use shape cutters or precut pieces on your cards and monograms?
Absolutely not. EVERY shape is hand cut by Kaiyla’s own hands. Each
shape, letter, face, etc. is hand cut with scissors or an exacto-knife.
Do
certain shades of paper cost more or less than others?
No. All colors/shades of paper cost the same to apply to your card. However,
all colors are subject to change without notice, due to supply and availability.
Why
do all your cards have a big white box in them?
I am a strong believer in the “personalized message”. In each
card, I give a designated spot for the sender to personalize their gift
in their own handwriting. Even if you write “have a great day”
with a signature, it will mean just that much more to your recipient.
Are
there special care instructions for your cards?
All my cards and monograms are made from construction paper. Construction
paper has wider pores than regular/computer paper. Because of this, touching
the paper with water, oil or food on your hands, or placing the card/monogram
on an unclean surface will soil the paper. The paper cannot be cleaned after
being soiled. Another aspect of my construction paper is that it is susceptible
to fading when exposed to sunlight for long periods of time (24 hours+ of
straight sunlight). If you wish to keep the card for a keepsake, you might
want to place it in a scrapbook, or memory box to lessen the amount of sun
exposure.
How
do you make your caricatures so much like the real person?
If a caricature is requested for a card’s design, I request that a
picture of the recipient (or whomever is to be made into the caricature)
be sent in an email, so that I can use it to better the caricature’s
resemblance.
Why
don’t you give your caricatures noses?
Noses are a very touchy subject with people. If a nose doesn’t appear
just right, it looks nothing like the person. Surprisingly, nose-less caricatures
tend to resemble people more closely than a caricature with all facial features.
Where
do you get your ideas for your cards?
Every design is a unique, one-of-a-kind creation and design of Kaiyla Rutledge.
All designs are original and copyright to Kaiyla Rutledge. No Kaiyla Kards
product is a copy or mimic of any other source.
Do
you have a team of artists that help with your work?
Each card and monogram is made by Kaiyla Rutledge. Kaiyla is the only artist
behind the designs and personally hand makes each card and monogram. She
does not have a trained team.
Where
do you operate your business?
Kaiyla Kards operates out of La Vernia, TX.
What
if I don’t like my card or monogram?
Even though payment is required before delivery of product, if any customer
is displeased or disappointed with their finished product, (which I guarantee
they will not be) they will receive a full refund. Unlike personalized services
by other companies, Kaiyla Kards focuses on customer satisfaction rather
than profit.
Can
I mail my card in the envelope you have made?
I would not suggest mailing your card in a Kaiyla Kards envelope. Usually
Kaiyla Kards envelopes have extra details, which could be ripped off, stained,
or damaged in other ways when going through the postal process. I suggest
getting a large cardboard envelope to send your card in to take protective
precautions for your gift.
How
do I make an order?
You can place an order through the order sheet page of this site, or you
can email Kaiyla directly with your special design requests. Remember, if
you would like a caricature on your card/monogram, please include a photo
of the one you want the caricature of in your email.
How
far in advance should I place my order?
I request that all orders be made 3-4 weeks before the special occasion/date
of event. This time frame allows for me to work on your gift without a rush
and gives the postal process leeway in its delivery to you.
